Rising Action: Collaboration of various plots (events) that lead up to a major moment within a story (Climax).
 -        Plot 1: Invitation to the ball.
·       Trigger – kick starts the rising action
·       If she never received the invite the problem that would occur later on (losing necklace) would have not occurred.
·       Lead to her wanting to look a certain way.
·       It emphasized her selfish/vain characteristics. She was never satisfied.
 -        Plot 2: She borrowed the necklace from Mme. Forestier.
·       If she never borrowed the necklace than it would not have been lost.
·       Her greed to be the center of attention encouraged her to take the most eye catching materialistic object. The necklace, to her, was the most expensive since it was large and shiny.
 -        Plot 3: Mme. Losiel going to the ball
